Thanks to Dad for those memorable summers of Wave Riding!

Nick in 1976

God Bless Dad, my parents, for having me learn swimming with my brother and sisters in Biarritz Miramar's waves in France during endless memorable summers!

We learned how the waves formed, how to avoid them by swimming as deep under as we could, holding our breath.  We learned to be rolled into the "washing machine" and finally, we learned to ride the Wave, on simple shaped plywood boards, in those early 70's days.  Over the next few summers, we witnessed the introduction of pressed polyethylen boards, which we could only ride with the protection of a t-shirt, for fear of the severe skin irritations that resulted from friction with the board.  This is about the time when appeared in my mind this "NickBoard" idea.  But then I picked up surfing and the idea faded away ...

Unfortunately, I developed over time a vertigo problem which eventually forced me off surfing.  But I could not stay away from the waves, so I went back to bodyboarding.  Meanwhile, Tom Morey and his cohorts had brought to bodyboarding significant improvements, and the horrible rashes of my childhood's bodyboards were no more but unpleasant memories.  Yet, bodyboarding simply did not satisfy me, and in terms of wave sensations, speed and pure riding, I was just craving a surfboard.

So I finally decided to transform my idea into a reality and I created, for my own needs and in order to pursue my passion, the NickBoard. I designed IT with SPEED, FUN WAVE RIDING AND EASY FIGURE MAKING in mind, and, most importantly, to work equally well in small and big waves.  I inspired myself with nature, using bio profiling and fast amazing fishes as examples to design the NickBoard.

You can achieve almost all that surfers do on a wave, with the ease of a bodyboard and without much training!  In fact the NICKBOARD CAN BE ENJOYED BY ALL, even in knee-high waves!  It is a GREAT TOOL TO APPROACH SURFING ESPECIALLY FOR KIDS.

SO TRY IT!  ENJOY THE NICKBOARD IN YOUR NEXT SESSION!
